Several months ago we asked you to pray for our Ecuador team. We know that so many of you were faithful senders in lifting this team up as they served across the globe. Below are a few stories of how God's faithfulness and blessing were seen on this trip. Thank you for helping to make this possible!

As you read the stories of God's faithfulness, keep in mind that our Liberia team will be headed out March 26th-April 4th. We look forward to the opportunity to serve them and their families with prayer soon.

....

My prayer request was truly answered far above what I could ever have imagined. Maria (the girl I had requested prayer for) was a blessing to me and a joy to have as part of our Harvest team. Everyone on the team loved her and spent time hugging her and being her friend. Through an interpreter, she told us that she had never had friends like this before. Having her in Quito with us also exposed her to some possible future opportunities and families that are looking to see where God may have her live and work. It was hard to say good-bye at the end of our time together but I know God has her future in His hands. Thanks for praying! The trip was fruitful and I continue to be changed each time I go. God is so good!
...

It was smoothest Christmas party week I have been to. I was really blessed by how our team supported one another.  At the beginning of the week, ER was told they could not have the biggest party of the week at the dump until they "got permission." But no one knew whom to get permission from. God knew! It all got worked out, and we were able to do it! Thanks for all your prayer and encouragement. I have never been to a church where there was so much support. Thank you!
...

We had an amazing trip. God is good. All went well and smoothly and that doesn’t always happen. The parties can get crazy and too big at times, but God helped everything  stay calm. We had two new organizations that we were partnering with and you never know what is going to happen. The people and crowds were under control and God was in charge. We were able to love on the people and show God’s love through our actions.  God was with us every day.
...

Maria is an orphan that helped us do the parties. She had accepted Christ as her Savior two years ago in the orphanage. She was witnessing to us so boldly and telling us part of her story. It was wonderful to see how open she was and comfortable telling of Jesus. She is now too old to be in the orphanage, but mentally she couldn’t live by herself. We are praying for her to find a job in Quito and someone will be able to take care of her. She is an amazing girl. I really think God used this week to help people get to know her and hopefully she will find a job and place to stay. Keep her in your prayers.
...

I grew up in a Latin American country (Mexico) so this experience in Ecuador felt a little more like a homecoming of sorts but what did strike me was that we have so much in our country that it has become a replacement for our realization that we need to be so aware of our dependent on God's providence. The folks in Ecuador live with need so much of their lives, they are aware that without God, they are in dire straits. We lose that
realization because we've come to trust our "stuff" instead of the Lord and it's a huge blind spot in our lives.  My prayer since returning is that I be conscious every day that the things in my life are only really a blessing if
I recognize who is really responsible for me having them and that He doesn't care about the things but where our hearts are and that they be truly focused on Him. The trip was eye-opening and such blessing to me.  All the prayers that we received were so important and I prayer that our time in Ecuador has lead or will lead to God's kingdom shining through a bit brighter than before we went.
TueTuesdayJanJanuary11th2011 Why Short Term Missions?
byJacob Netherton Tagged No tags 0 comments Add comment
Have you ever responded to the call to GO on a short term international trip with, “There is so much work to do here.  I’m going to reach my Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria before going to the uttermost parts of the earth.”? If so, let me first say that you’re right, there is so much to do here. There are many lost people in North Indy. In fact only 1 out of 5 North Indy households attend church on any given Sunday. We have a culture of low commitment to Christ and to the gospel. We need gospel-centered Christians to go to their neighbors, communities and urban areas and proclaim Christ’s love. So my question to this is, “Are you doing this?” My hunch is that a bulk of us are using staying here as an excuse to not do anything. If that’s you I want to challenge you to consider going on a short-term trip this year.

The reason why we go on short-term trips to other countries is because God’s heart is and always has been about reaching the nations! Revelation 7:9 shows us every nation, tribe, people and language gathered together in heaven giving praise to the Most High God! This is God’s dream and we as His children have the amazing opportunity and responsibility to take His Good News to the nations and be a part of fulfilling His dream of every nation worshiping before His throne!

75% of our world’s population lives in an area of the world that is unreached and unengaged with the gospel of Jesus Christ. That’s why we have chosen to focus a large part of our short term trips on the areas of the world that have very little gospel presentation.

Our Liberia team is preparing to leave on March 27th to take God’s love to those who are hurting and lost.  Please pray for the team that God would supply all of their needs and use them to make an eternal difference in Liberia.

The next Short Term Trip available is our China trip. You have an opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus in China. Our team will go to support and connect with our missionaries as well as minister to desperate and hungry souls.

Knowing that God’s heart is to reach those in China, will you pray about going on this trip? If you feel God’s leading is to go, then please e-mail Mandy Horn at to sign up for this exciting trip!

Get involved in praying for God's global family in Laos. Two men, who are very close to our missionaries, are missing or imprisoned because they believe in Jesus. Please pray for Grandpa B and Boon to receive freedom that they would be bold leaders in the Lao church.

Boon
Fifteen years ago Boon was a demon priest in his village. He wasted his family's money on alcohol and cigarettes. When he was drunk he often beat his wife. Then he heard the message that there is a God who created the world, one who was more powerful than the evil spirits. Boon accepted the good news became a follower of Jesus. Over the next 8 years he spoke powerfully about the Lord in his village and in the province. He led people to Christ and started a church in his home. Twice he was put in prison for his faith, but both times he came out stronger.  He could not be stopped. Then one day Boon, his wife and his six year old son disappeared while on a trip to another province. Usually if someone dies for the faith in Laos their body is found. Boon's body has never been found and there has been no word of him for seven years. Pray that if he is still alive Boon will stand firm in his faith. Pray his wife and son will have vibrant walks with Jesus too, and that they won't become bitter because they are separated from the rest of the children in the family. Ask that their whereabouts will be discovered at the proper time, and that Boon will return in God's timing to be a great leader of the faith for Lao people.

Grandpa B
Ten years and 5 months ago, Grandpa B was convicted of treason and imprisoned for "believing in Jesus." Over the years, his jailers have held out hope that he might be released early. The latest information that was told to the family indicates that he might be released this year. This appears to be a game that the jailers are playing to manipulate the emotions of Grandpa B and his family. Pray that this would stop and that Grandpa B would see his release this year.

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.
~ Psalm 107:1

It seems as though merchants really don't know what to do with Thanksgiving. They market Halloween and Christmas and make a lot of money off these holidays. But they don't really know what to do with Thanksgiving, which is really very spiritual in its origins. It was designated by President George Washington in 1789 as a national day for giving thanks to God.

In the midst of all our feasting, it is very easy to forget about the one we are celebrating. Sometimes we even forget to give thanks altogether. You might be thinking, Well, I don't have a lot to give thanks for. Maybe you are having financial troubles or health problems. Maybe there is conflict in your family. But we need to put things into perspective. As someone wrote,

"If you woke up this morning with more health than illness, you are more blessed than the million who won't survive the week. If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation, you are ahead of 20 million people around the world. If you attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death, you are more blessed than almost three billion people in the world. If you have food in your refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof over your head, and a place to sleep, you are richer than 75 percent of this world. If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace, you are among the top 8 percent of the world's wealthy."

There is a lot to give thanks for. And the primary reason we were put on this earth as human beings is to glorify God and to give Him thanks.

TueTuesdayNovNovember9th2010 International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church - 2010

In the traditional church calendar, "All Saints Day" and "All Souls Day" stand out in the month of November, set apart to remember the saints of the church and the souls of those who departed this world. It is fitting, then, that the modern church has set apart the month of November to remember and pray for the persecuted Church, through the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church (IDOP).

There are many countries in the world today where Christians are martyred for their faith. Believers in Afghanistan are facing death threats; Christians in Uzbekistan, Nigeria and many other countries all around the world face violence, imprisonment and even death. There are other places in the world such as North Korea where acts of persecution take place, but we don't see or hear of it. Brother Andrew of Open Doors once said, "Our heroes are not with us simply because they are in prison."

IDOP is a time set apart for us to remember thousands of our Christian brothers and sisters around the world who suffer persecution, simply because they confess Jesus Christ as Lord.November 14: Churches Reminded to Pray for the Persecuted

"Our persecuted family is not asking us to pray that the persecution will stop," says Nettleton. "They're asking us to pray they will remain faithful to Christ in spite of the persecution and pressure they face."

Harvest family, let's remember to pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ who are being persecuted for their faith. This Sunday Nov. 14th is the International Day of Prayer for the persecuted church.  Please take special time this Sunday to pray specifically for those who are "in chains for the gospel".
